Presented by Sydney Opera House
Rum Sodomy & The Lash
5th & 6th April '26 in 4 months. Tickets $119 to $149
Fourteen years after their last performance in Australia, the original members of Celtic punk iconoclasts The Pogues return to celebrate the 40th anniversary of their classic 1985 record Rum Sodomy & The Lash – and to raise a toast to their late singer-songwriter, the legendary Shane MacGowan.
Produced by Elvis Costello, Rum Sodomy & The Lash would become a seminal album in the punk and alternative rock canon, driven by its raw energy, poetic lyrics and irresistible melodies on songs like ‘Rainy Night in Soho', ‘A Pair of Brown Eyes' and ‘Dirty Old Town'.
To mark the anniversary, founding band members James Fearnley, Jem Finer, and Spider Stacy are joined by guest musicians Holly Mullineaux, Jordan O'Leary, Fiachra Meek, and the Bad Seeds' Jim Sclavunos, plus vocalists Daragh Lynch, Iona Zajac and John Francis Flynn, to perform the record in its entirety, plus B-sides, extended version tracks and a special selection of their most beloved material.
Equal parts celebration, heartfelt tribute and testament to the band's enduring legacy, this is a show not to be missed.
5th & 6th April '26 $119 to $149
